Firefox Ubiquity – A Comand Line Interface for your Browser

I have just discovered ubiquity for Firefox. It is something like a command line interface for your favorite browser. After installation you can hit CTRL+X and a small window shows up in which you can type in some commands.

Commands

google
Performs a Google search. The google command allows you to search Google. Just select whatever text you want to Google and run the command.
translate to swedish Translate the selected text to Swedish.
translate to spanish Translate the selected text to Spanish.
translate to russian Translate the selected text to Russian.
translate to romanian Translate the selected text to Romanian.
translate to portuguese Translate the selected text to Portugese.
translate to polish Translate the selected text to Polish.
translate to norwegian Translate the selected text to Norwegian.
translate to korean Translate the selected text to Korean.
translate to japanese Translate the selected text to Japanese.
translate to italian Translate the selected text to Italian.
translate to hindi Translate the selected text to Hindi.

Most of the features require to have text selected. But once you figured that out it works great. And the translations work inline, so the selected text is translated on the page. This remains me of a project I had a few years ago: IBT – In Browser Translation.
You really should give it a try. It has some nice features 🙂
