Idea: Local SMS

sms-photoWe all use SMS/short messages regularly. It must be the most used option of a mobile phone today. And this even though it is so expensive.
I use my mobile phone also as a notebook for my ideas. But I have to search my to-do or notes list every time I want to write something down.

What I wonder is, why is there no (free!) option to send an SMS/text messages to my inbox directly? I am in the SMS/texting application all the time. Why can’t I create a regular SMS/short message and set the recipient to 0 or 1270001 and the message is directly moved in my inbox? That SMS/short message does not leave my phone, so it would be free of charge.

No longer. This was true three years ago. Now I hardly send and receive SMS on the mobile. It’s all email, browser, twitter client, other apps.

    1. well, yeah. for techies maybe. i hardly now any people that really use their phone for surfing (iphone users excluded).
and if it is not a wide used option, why do the texts still cost so much for little work on the carrier site? and over christmas/new year in switzerland alone over 80 million texts are sent to loved ones, friends and family.

  3. By the way, since you’re writing in English, we’re talking to a worldwide audience. 🙂 In the US, they call it “texting” and “text messages”.

  4. 127001, that’s totally nerdy. As I don’t have any mobile phone (aka NATEL® for the Swiss audience) carrying a pen (permanent or not) and writing things on your arm(s) is good enough to me.

True. It was more as an example 😉

well, that is a difference between you and I. I am way more tidy. writing on my arm? Did this in third grade for the last time I think 😉
