German Users Tested on their Computer Knowledge

German Technology magazine heise reports about a study from DLGI about the general computer knowledge of German users. 56 percent said they have “satisfactory” or “good” knowledge. The other 44 said they never used a computer (sic!).
The funny part is, most of the questioned people understand under “computer knowledge” the “use of a browser”. Seriously! And people are wondering what “the IT guy” does in the IT Department…

Besides questioning the “general” people, the DLGI also has contacted 1200 schools in Germany and asked about their computer use, teaching and habits. None of them uses Microsoft’s new operating system Vista. And 90 percent of the computer software is out dated.

I will not start and bash about the “Year of Informatics” we currently “celebrate” in Switzerland. It is just a plain joke, silly and completely ridiculous. Maybe more on that another time.

And now some I can has Cheezburger photos:
