I am sorry, I usually don’t flame about other people’s software. But Adobe Flash has always been a pain in the ass. I hate it on my MacBook and I don’t really like it on my Android (yes SteveJ, it drains my battery like crazy).
After investigating some issues with TV.Centerr and HTC Desire HD I came across the AndroidManifest.xml of the latest release (10.1.105.7). There I discovered some funny things
android.webkit.PLUGIN
is completely deprecated (source). So at some point, that stuff will no longer be supported by the Android system. Bad.- Isn’t 8 gte 5 (8 > 5)? So Adobe develops for SDK version 8 (Android 2.2) but works with the SDK v5?
I really, really hope Adobe knows what they are doing …
And I still did not find a solution to the Desire HD problem.
what desire hd problem? works fine on mine with latest flash player from android market
yeah, newest updated fixed it again. gets pretty annoying …
Hey,
first off: i really like your apps.
I got a quick question:
As “android.webkit.PLUGIN” is deprecated, do you know of any alternative one should use when planning to support flash content in their apps?
thx. 🙂
hi steffen
I have no idea. I haven’t had any time to check it out further. But there has to be a solution somehow 😉
And android.webkit.WebSettings.setFlashPlayerEnabled(bool) has somehow also disappeared ;-D
man I need some days off to fix my app. Let me know if you find something
