Update, September 17th, 2010: Google now finally launched Chrome To Phone in the Swiss and German Android Market. Just search for “ChromeToPhone” and you can install version 2.1.0 on your Android 2.2 device.
Yesterday, Google “officially” launched the Chrome2Phone app and released it to the Android Market. Okay, cool. I have been using the Chrome extension for a long time. Pretty cool tool.
But the whole thing has one f**** error, bug, thing:
The app is only available in the following Markets: Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, the US and South Africa. So the app is neither available in Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Austria, France, Japan or Spain, which all allow developers to sell apps. But not even for them Chrome To Phone has been released.
Oh, and did I tell you, you are not able to download the app if you are in Switzerland? I think it is time to organize a Flashmob to the Google European Development HQ in Zurich, Switzerland.
This is the same sh*t as Xing pulled with the “pre-launch” of their Xing app.
Sorry for strong language, but this is just WTF-moment. But don’t worry, you can still download the apk file from the Google Code page. I tried to compile the sources and upload in the Android Market. But it failed. So best is, you download the apk from the above page and install it manually.
