I am sad. Really, really sad. My new Nikon D5000 DSRL camera I bought a little while ago already is failing to start up. No matter what (changing batteries, re-charging, “cold” start) the device won’t start. After a quick Internet search I have found that this seems to be a problem with quiet a few Nikon D5000’s. You can check if your camera is affected on the US website of Nikon by entering the serial number.
If your device is affected you can enter your shipping address and Nikon will repair your camera free of charge and the shipping payed for.
If you live in Switzerland as I do you have to contact Nikon Switzerland under this phone number: 043 277 28 30 or directly visit the repair center in Egg (ZH). Sadly I could not find any information on the Swiss Nikon website. But the technician I talked to said the repair would take a work-week at least. 🙁
Update July 10th: My D5000 is repaired and ready to pickup. Yay! It really took Nikon 7 working days to fix and go trough the internal quality service. *happy*
What a bummer… Feel sorry for you.
Is the camera back yet?
Nope. No word on a ETA.
That would be _after_ some awesome fireworks this weekend. Sucks pretty much.
