From Monday until Wednesday we had our project days at the HTW in Chur. We could choose between eight different projects, like globalisation, contents and legal meaning of the FIS rules, LEGO Mindstorms robots, e-smog or creating a website with Flash. After considering for a long time I decided to go with the LEGO robot building and programming.
All eight robots (click for a larger view and all their names).
The order was, to create a robot that can race on a “Indy 500” track against the other robots. Our robot was the first one that could do that task after just a few hours of working. We were pretty happy and begun with the fine tuning of hard- and software. We invested quiet some time in it. For the races we implemented a routine that our robot could change the lane. We hoped to get a little advantage and luckily on the first race it worked perfectly. We escaped the crashes and arrived safely at the goal. For all the fun check out the videos below.
But of course it was not all fun. The main idea was to write a documentation what we did, how we did it and how we solved problems. The whole writing took about one and a half day. We almost fought about every line we wrote down and argued. But we delivered the paper on time. Let’s hope the teachers are giving us good marks 🙂
