BarCamps can make a difference

Wow! I woke up this morning, checking my feeds and searched some new posts about BarCampZurich and look what I have found

You can speak at LIFT
I was at Barcamp Zurich this past Saturday to see how these conferences work, and there is a good reason for that: on Friday we will offer two large rooms (130 seats each) to anybody who wishes to give a 20 minutes talk. It will work like this:

  • anybody can propose a talk
  • we will create a digg-like interface where LIFTers can dig the speeches they like the most
  • the top speeches will be scheduled on Friday

We get so many offers from so many amazing people that we have to do this. All this will soon be available on the website

Of course it is not the BarCamp-Concept (only top session will happen), but it is a start.

LIFT
is a non-free conference in Geneva with invited speakers (last year Robert Scoble, Cory Doctorow and more) and around 350 attendees.

It is great to see, that big conferences can change and become more open.

  1. Excellent! Thanks for pointing this out – I just appied to speak there with my “Organizing Email” talk, which people seemed to like in Zurich. I’m going to upgrade it a little bit based on the input from BarCampZurich, and see if people vote for me.
