It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – Blog Spamming or serious marketing?

Okay, I just got an email from Laura H. who works with BIG Interactive. She writes:

Dear Webmaster,

We checked out your website and thought it would be a good fit for the official FX Networks It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia affiliate webmaster program.

By participating, you will receive a $75.00 Amazon.com e-certificate.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, premiering June 29, 10PM on FX, is a show about four egocentric friends who run a neighborhood Irish pub in Philly. Unfortunately, their warped views and precarious judgments often lead them to a series of uncomfortable yet hilarious situations.

FX Networks has created an exclusive set of advertorial pieces that promote a series of funny video clips from the show – all of which you can place on your site for your users to enjoy and pass around.

All the information you need, including the advertorial is on this official FX Webmaster Page:

Being skeptical about that (isn’t that “blog spam”, something Tris Hussey talked about at mesh06), I don’t know what to do. The company (BIG Interactive) looks real to me and as a series junkie – even far away from the states – I have heard of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and I sure will downl.. ehm… whatch it when it runs in Germany/Austria/Switzerland. So, should I put up the advertisements and pocket the Amazon e-certificate? You will find it out here 🙂

And I keep an eye on Technorati for updates.
