Virtual Terminal for Chromium OS/Google Chrome OS

So I managed to get Chromium OS on a virtual machine running. Now I am playing around a little bit. I will document my progress here.

First thing, you need to get the virtual console. Do this by clicking CTRL + ALT + T. More commands are on this shortcut list.

Now you have a functional terminal/console.

So… How do you get back to chrome OS after you get to your virtual terminal? I’ve tried F7 and that didn’t work…

    Thanks for the nice post,

I think you have to use F8, but I am not sure and I don’t have a ChromiumOS around anymore.

        Hi CoCaman,

Heya, thanks for the quick reply. I actually figured it out… It’s just like you are in a normal window manager. You just alt+tab, to cycle through the other windows. F12 gives you an overview showing all the windows that are open and F8 (as you stated above) will show you a nice overview of the keyboard shortcuts available to you.

Can I ask why Chrome OS is not around anymore? Find some deal-breaker of a bug or something?

        Thanks again for the reply,

        Chrelad

          hi Chrelad
          Thanks for the information.

Well, I only used the VmWare image and it doesn’t feel right in there. And I have no device lying around I could install a full version of it. So for now I let Chromium be Chromium in its (pre-)alpha stage and try it later again.
