Update November 5th: Adium 1.3.8 fixes the problem.
As of today, November 4rd the beloved multi-messenger client Adium for Mac OS X seems to have troubles logging in to Facebook. It is no longer possible to login to the crappy and buggy Facebook chat with Adium. All you see is this window:
Even after entering the correct data, Adium still cannot login. And if you visit facebook.com and try to login, you will see a page like this:
For now it looks like Adium is being sabotaged by Facebook. Has anybody tried another client? Is it there the same? Please report.
I demand that Facebook allows other clients and offers an API for accessing the chat. That cannot be that hard, guys!

same error here for a few days, maybe even weeks now.. i’m glad finally someone is blogging about it. its really getting on my nerves..
for few days? first one to tell me that. it started for me this morning. looks like the plugin is fixed now. need to check this out later.
Fuck my fucking life, I tell you. I’ve been using Adium because I hate the Facebook chat. Now I am forced to use the bugginess. I loved the ease of use of Adium. FML

It appears that adium has fixed this with the new version. Just update your adium to 1.3.8

Eric, I just tried it and it does work for me. Have you tried a re-installation ?
When I ran it, it tried to log on, showed the contacts and then disconnected them…
I read somewhere else to shut down Adium, wait a little bit, and then restart Adium, and boom, it seems to work…

again, shut down Adium, wait, and start-it up again and it works.. Weird
Yes, you are right. Had the same problem. But just canceling and waiting a few minutes before reconnecting and it seems to work again. Must be something with Facebook or their server issues.
