Okay, this bad luck. I waited almost 2 days about news of the new Plazes client. And 45 minutes after I published my review (without the Plazer part) I got an email telling me Plazer is ready to download. Sh**. So here is another post about Plazes and the first about Plazer 🙂

First of all: The notification/Desktop Alert sucks! For every update my contacts do, it updates. This is to much for me. I use Plazes to pull information about my friends (where they are/have been and what they do) and I don’t need Plazer to tell me every little update. But luckily there is an off button for this. And please work on the memory usage. 10 minutes after launch it uses 40MB RAM. Pretty much for a tool that does nothing 🙂

Check out the new Trazes window. Updates automatically every 4 minutes with the status and location of yourself and friends. On windows you can also make this window update before the 4 minute period by entering a new status or location.Growl updates have been implemented in this build. To activate growl, go to Options, then click on ‘Behavior’ and check the ‘Notification Setting’ to ‘Show notification of all activity’. Growl away!
Known Issues
1. New message notification not yet implemented
2. When logging back in to computer after it has been asleep, the Plazer window might appear white until user clicks on it.
3. The overall app design is about to be reworked.
4. There’s no buddy list for now.
5. Webpages opened from the Plazer may require login.
6. Plazer doesn’t work properly on modem connections by now.
7. Mac Plazer does not operate via Proxy server.
8. If you open the Plazer without an active internet connection there might be issues.
9. Application icon is not final, nice disk image still to be made.
Oh and please pay attention to the codename: “Best Dressed Chicken In Town IV”. They must have phun in Berlin 🙂
