A few days ago, Microsoft presented the first part of their new online strategy called “Windows Live”.
Based on Virtual Earth, the user can browse around the world (mainly US) and use street- and image-maps. Sounds like we the known Google Earth/Maps. But Microsoft has something new:
bird’s eye
This part shows you a very close look of an area. The photos are taken by an airplane or helicopter and you have some spectacular views. I’ve made up a few links for you to take a look to this cool feature (which will hopefully be soon a part of Google Map too).
- Statue of Liberty, New York, US
- The Roosevelt Island Tramway
- The Microsoft complex in Redmond near Seattle
Haven’t found the Googleplex… strange … š
Other features:
– Right-click support
– Fast-zoom with right-click and “zoom to …” (area, region, city, street)
– DHTML menu and layers
– Zooming with your mouse wheel
– Zoom by double-click
